McChurch...

I was talking with a friend yesterday when they let me know they were looking for a "good church" and wondered if Cornerstone might be a fit.  My response was a simple but tentative, "well that depends on what you're looking for..."  To which they responded with a well thought out, strategic list,  "We're looking for a church with a solid youth ministry.  A children's ministry that focuses on the Bible and scripture memory.  We'd also like an excellent worship experience with a Pastor who preaches "the word."

It's funny but in some ways I want all that too.  Don't get me wrong.  Cornerstone does have great people and programs but Cornerstone is also a place where broken people come for hope and healing.  At Cornerstone we make mistakes - I know I certainly do... and when we do... we do our best to own up while seeking forgiveness and reconciliation.  At Cornerstone we're messy...knowing we all have issues that God is helping us / challenging us to work through and change.

Yes, I do want excellence in the sense that I want to minimize any "glitches" that might get in the way of people experiencing God.  The irony is that at times, God uses those "mistakes" to do the incredible...
